mr. H.J.J.M. van der Bruggen

Hein van der Bruggen studied civil and notarial law at Leiden University. Early in 1975, after having worked a number of years as a junior civil-law notary, he was admitted to the bar in Roermond and joined Van der Bruggen Advocaten, his father's law firm. When his father died in 1983, he continued the firm. In 1984 the firm merged with René van Boven’s firm. That is how Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten came into existence.
Hein is a board member of a few foundations which act as trust offices for shareholders in family firms. In addition he is vice-chair of the Central Limburg Tourist Information Foundation. History is one of his passions. As chair of the editorial board he prepares the annual publication of Mirror of Roermond, a historical yearbook for Roermond and Central Limburg. He is involved in the writing and preparation of a large number of historical publications and is chair of the Advisory Board of the Social Historical Centre for Limburg in Maastricht. In 2008 he received the Silver Carnation of the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund in recognition of his work for historiography and culture preservation.

mr. P.J.W.M. Theunissen

Immediately after completing her studies in Dutch law at the University of Tilburg in 1983 Ellen Theunissen was admitted to the bar and joined Van der Bruggen advocaten, one of the law firms from which Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten arose in 1984. She became a partner in 1989. Ellen has completed the specialist courses in Environmental Law at the Grotius Academy and in Family Law at the Institute for Family Law and Mediation. Ellen is on the Board of Discipline of the Bar Association in ’s-Hertogenbosch. She chairs the Residents/Clients' Funds Management Foundation of the Central Limburg Foundation for Pedagogical Social Work and is a board member of the Stadspark De Karthuis Foundation. Ellen is a member of the Association of Family Lawyers and Divorce Mediators and of the Agricultural Law Association. She is also an NMI mediator.

Marco Pals studied at Utrecht State University. He was admitted to the bar in 1986 and worked for five years with a law firm in Rotterdam-Botlek. In 1990 he exchanged Rotterdam for Roermond and joined Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten. He is a partner since 1993. In 2008 he completed the specialist course in Employment Law at the Grotius Academy. Marco is an active member of the Dutch Employment Lawyers Association and of the Roermond and Maastricht districts of this specialists association.

mr. J.B.Th. van 't Grunewold

After his studies in Dutch law at the University of Utrecht Bart van ’t Grunewold was admitted to the bar in 1985. He joined his father's law firm. When the latter retired in 1988, Bart independently carried on the law firm until 1994. Thereafter Bart started to work with Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten and became a partner in 1996. Bart has completed the specialist course in civil construction law at the Netherlands Institute for Construction Law. He is a member of the Construction Lawyers Association. In addition he is on the Supervisory Board of the Educational Foundation Swalm en Roer, which comprises 25 primary schools in Roermond, Swalmen and the Roer area. Bart also acts as secretary of the disputes committee of a railway and tramway association.

mr. L.A.C.M. van der Bruggen

In 1985 Laurent van der Bruggen completed his studies at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. After first having taught law for one year at the Higher Nautical College in Amsterdam, he was admitted to the bar on 28 August 1986. He joined Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten as an attorney-at-law. By doing so Laurent changed the course of his career. He earlier worked for almost 10 years as a deep-sea navigator with Shell Tankers B.V. in Rotterdam. His love for sailing is apparent from one of his preferred areas of law. Laurent became a partner in 1996.

mr. Y.J.M.G. Breukers

Yves Breukers studied at Maastricht University. He was admitted to the bar in 1989. On 1 May 1993 he joined Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten. In 2001 Yves became a partner. Yves chairs the complaints committees of the Foundation for Social Pedagogical Work and the Mensana Foundation. As a former competitive horseman he is well disposed towards the equestrian sport. So not surprisingly he is chairman of the Venruiters riding club in Herkenbosch and chairs the section South of the Limburg district of the Royal Dutch Equestrian Federation.

Maartje worked earlier as a lawyer with healthcare insurer VGZ and as an attorney-at-law with the Legal Aid Office, later Legal Aid South Attorneys. She is a member of the Association of Administrative Law.

Yu Wong studied private law at the University of Amsterdam and penal law at the University of Tilburg. He was admitted to the bar in 2011. Yu worked as a court registrar at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam. As a faculty member at the University of Tilburg he did research into the actio pauliana. Yu fulfilled an internship at Rabo Securities. In 2011 Yu joined Van Boven & Van der Bruggen Advocaten.
